Main Use: Cosmetics
Mechanism of Action
By introducing hydrophobic acetyl groups onto the hyaluronic acid sugar chain, AcHA forms an amphiphilic molecule. The hydrophobic groups allow it to penetrate the lipid channels of the stratum corneum and reach the middle-to-lower epidermis, while the hydrophilic backbone retains moisture. The acetyl groups also create steric hindrance that protects the molecule from degradation by skin hyaluronidase, extending its residence time on the skin. The resulting amphiphilic film reduces transepidermal water loss for long-lasting hydration, while also promoting keratinocyte proliferation and lipid synthesis to help repair the skin barrier. It further inhibits matrix metalloproteinases and stimulates collagen synthesis for anti-wrinkle and anti-aging effects, and scavenges free radicals while down-regulating pro-inflammatory factors, giving it antioxidant and redness-soothing benefits. Overall, its performance goes well beyond that of conventional hyaluronic acid, which remains mainly on the skin's surface.
Product Benefits
AcHA penetrates deep into the skin, providing long-lasting hydration and reducing water loss. It strengthens and repairs the skin barrier, improving dryness, flaking, redness, and itchiness. It promotes collagen synthesis and reduces collagen breakdown, softening fine lines and slowing skin aging. It scavenges free radicals to protect against oxidative damage and has a soothing, calming effect. With strong adhesion to the skin that resists rinsing off, it delivers lasting improvement to rough, dull skin, leaving it soft and smooth.
